Borders and limits. First of all we create it by ourselves. And good, if it happens deliberately, it is positive and even needed, but if not?  If all new opportunities are cut off at the roots without even trying. Because – “it’s not for me”, “I cannot”, “scared” or “better to sit at home” … familiar? Half of my surrounding is sick on this disease without even recognizing.

Anything new that comes into our lives stumbles on invisible but existing wall “comfort zone.”
Comfort zone – is surrounding where everything comfortable and familiar. Each day – work, home, TV.  And then? Nothing.  Routine, everyday life and lack of purpose.
Comfort zone – it’s a big sign “Stop” for self-development that eventually turns to the degradation of the individual.

When I’m sitting to long in my comfort zone, I start to feel myself like a deck. Flowing downstream to shore, starting to rot deck, around which just passing by extremely full river of life. It’s always scary. Well, honestly. In my first hitchhiking trip I was shaking like a leaf, periodically stammered, being afraid of a driver like fire. But in the end I reached the sea of which I just dreamed couple of years but didn’t go there because of finances, circumstances and a bunch of other excuses ... worth it? Of course! And you cannot imagine how many new opportunities except seeing the see it opened to me.

So today we gonna speak about comfort zone and how to get out of it, if you also started to feel yourself like a deck.
First of all – my congrats! The number of people, who understands that they need to go out from comfort zone and really starting to do something for it is impressively miserable.
If you are here and reading this article, you already think how to overcome the uncertainty and fear … this is already underskirts of your comfort city. Just move further!

Here are some practical tips that I usually use for stretching my comfort zone:

  1. Breaking the habits

This is the best way to start the movement. Nothing over unusual not happen to you, but the walls moved….
Do spite of the way you’re used to and opposite – do something you not used to do…
Not used to do exercises in the morning? Start!
Usually going by subway to work? Take a bike!
Always save on yourself? Make shopping!
Anything! You know your habits better. The main thing – to do something not as you do it usual.
This is perfect exercise to prepare you for bigger and more serious steps.

 

  1. Looking for “kick under ass”

Roughly, but true. Sometimes we just cannot start. Because not having enough motivation/power/mental power (choose yours), and to begin to act, we really need to be pushed out from our homes.
Book, blog, training (especially paid one), quotation, or person who believes in you. Something that motivates you, giving the feeling of open wings and the words “I can do it” in your head.
And after  “I can” usually appears a plan.

 

  1. Begin something new

Well, you’ve been thinking long time about the gym? Or language courses? And what about dancing? Draw something? Hiking to the mountains?
Each of us has own “long time thinking but don’t get round to it”
Here’s just a wonderful time to start!
And even if you have lack of time, not the right moment in life, other things … just start!
Anyway you stay in plus – your dream begins to move from dead place and your comfort zone expands.

  1. Throwing unneeded

First from your head. Then out form wardrobe. From computer. From your apartment. Finally, out from your life.

You’ve started something new, but it’s not enough time for it? Perfect! Look around, it is a great time for throwing activity, which is stealing your time!
This rule applies to the old habits as well. Do you really need all of them? I do not think that all…

 

  1. Expanding horizons

Spontaneity is our everything! Sometimes it is necessary to do something just after seeing. Right here and now. Without hesitation.
It might be scary, unusual and strange. Anyway still do it. Go to the other end of town just without a reason, start to learn something definitely new for you and even just put on something, what you would have never wear  outside ….
You will see how many horizons gonna open this small steps.
And I guarantee that you will feel physically how you cross a boundary of old you.

  1. In the search of experience

Very similar to the previous point, but here we are looking for emotions.
Unusual emotion for you. Fear, sadness, joy, delight, love … .and further the list
You can play games with the children, feeling young again, do volunteering in social services, hug a stranger on the subway,  jump from the bridge with a rope tied to your legs or shout in middle of a crowded street.
The bottom line – a new emotion and to go beyond the permitted to yourself.

  1. New fooling

Head is one, and a lot of hassle on it… But still! We take on ourselves new commitments.
That might be uncomfortable and somehow not much need … .but who knows what will bring new activities.
In my case – a blog. Never thought I would do it, but …. =)
This is not only a way out of your comfort zone, but also very profitable venture for your success.

 

  1. Deciding the direction

The goal, I’m speaking just about it. Or dream … which is not much different if to work on it.
Typically, in order to get what we want, we must do what we’ve never done before and to do it much! This is already way beyond the comfort zone. And it’s always more and more difficult!
It is important not just to think that you would do that or just start, but to put a deadline, to when you want it done. And action!

 

  1. Action

Remember, it doesn’t matter will you do this recommendations one by one or choose best one for you, the question only in your activity and in your actions. Without them nothing gonna work!

Ahead – new opportunities and setbacks, but the main thing – the movement.
